About Méns Lucida

Méns Lucida

Disability Management

Practitioner

05 June 2025

Welcome to my website “Enable” where you will find comprehensive, reliable, and accessible disability-related information.

I am a private individual residing in the Republic of South Africa, and a practicing Disability Management Practitioner. As someone who is partially sighted (with approximately 5% eyesight), I understand the nuanced challenges and opportunities that disability presents. This website is my personal initiative to contribute to a more informed, empathetic, and inclusive society.

Méns Lucida is my pen name, a name chosen with intention and meaning. Derived from the Latin phrase mens lucida, it translates to “clear mind” or “lucid mind.” The name thus reflects both clarity of thought and a commitment to insightful contribution. The diacritical accent on the “e” in Méns is a personal stylistic choice to ensure the name is interpreted as intended and not mistaken for the English word “men.”

I have chosen to write under a pen name for several reasons. Most importantly, it allows me to preserve personal privacy and to protect myself against identity theft in a digital age where exposure can come with risk.  Additionally, using an alternative name enables a degree of separation between my private life and my professional advocacy, allowing me to focus fully on content that serves the public well; to write more freely; to shield myself from bias or scrutiny; and to speak on sensitive matters from a neutral platform.

As the owner and creater of this site, my goal is to support both individuals with disabilities and the organizations that interact with or serve them. Whether you’re a person seeking guidance, a professional working in the disability inclusion space, or a policymaker shaping accessible systems, this platform is here to inform, empower, and connect.

Thank you for visiting, and I hope that the resources and insights shared here will inspire deeper understanding and positive action.
